The Wexford Council of Trade Unions is the local trades-council for County Wexford, affiliated to the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU). We are a group of trade-union representatives from different unions operating within County Wexford. We provide a forum for collective voice, local campaigns, coordination and support.
The WCTU works to represent and coordinate trade-union interests locally in Wexford: e.g., engaging with community development committees, local authorities, and local issues of employment, wages, workers’ rights.
Wexford has a strong industrial labour history — the foundry disputes in the early 20th century are one example. The WCTU has helped keep that memory alive and use it to frame present-day union work.
